We are delighted to announce that we are now offering online & remote balances. Watch our video below to learn how online balances work and answer any questions you may have about this new opportunity.
There are many articles on the benefits of daily exercise. There are many different matrices on the best type – 10,000 steps per day, 30 minutes daily, moderate walking, high intensity twice a week, Cross Fit four times a week – you get the gist. Every body is different and every life is different, and depending on the seasons, your physical health, your work and family load, everyone has a different level of opportunity to engage in organised, regular and consistent movement. This is where Incidental Exercise is our friend. This is the exercise and movement you do when you’re ‘living’. You are probably not wearing gym clothes and runners that cost the same price as the GDP of a small African nation, you are definitely unlikely to be taking a #gymselfie while you do it, and no one in very tiny hot pink lycra shorts will be yelling at you down their microphone ‘You can do it now! Give me three more!’ For readers with children, you would get plenty of incidental exercise, the young child ‘squat lift’, the evening ‘pick up toys’ routine, and the pram push/child carry event that happens on a daily basis. Many women are encouraged to do their Kegel Exercises while they sit at their desk or eat their breakfast, and anyone who has done rehab from an injury will be well acquainted with standing next to the wall in some pose extending or lifting a limb. Case in point, as humans we do move most days, and you’ve probably already been doing a lot more exercise than you realised, this article is about recognising what you do and making it an acknowledged habit and movement choice. I am a very big fan of Incidental Exercise – this is how I do it, how I don't take myself too seriously when I'm doing it and how I tweak it to make sure I can get as much of it in my daily life as possible. Scenes from the Toothbrush Squat SeshBrushing My Teeth When I brush my teeth, I do squats. I do basic squats, I do lunge squats and occasionally (at the insistence of my sister who is a dancer), I do plie pulses. My dentist must be thrilled, because I aim to do 20 to 25 each time, which means I brush my teeth for a considerable amount longer than I used to. Less plaque and better glutes – win/win! Doing the Dishes Calf Raises. Even if it is just twenty while I stand there and wash. Slowly up and with the voice of my Pilates Instructor ringing in my ears, even more slowly and controlled down.
Lift the Shopping Bags When I lift them out of the trolley, and out of the car into the house, I lift and rest them back three times before moving them. A little bi/tri workout with bags full of potatoes? Yes please!
Quick Stop to the Shops I have a specific backpack for my bike, it already has my bike lock, a water bottle, some spare change, a hanky and a towel in it. This means if I decide to take my bike, I walk out and grab my backpack and I’m off. This is very handy on days when I just need a few little things from the shops. On particularly busy days when the palaver of getting a car park takes longer than it does to drive to the shop, I jump on my bike and pedal down to pick up a few bits and pieces. And yes, I look incredibly smug as I pedal off past the traffic jams and back up the hill with my backpack full of apples. It takes me maybe ten minutes longer than driving, but I’ve ticked off exercise for the day. Overachieving incidental exerciser - lifting the bike over the car to get down the drive...Walk the Dog It seems obvious, but not all dog owners are dog walkers. If you have a four legged friend, use them as motivation to put your runners on and get out the door, regardless of the weather – dogs are all terrain! Charlie would cover a decent 20kms a week in walks, which by extension means the human he is walking also covers the same. As he is a rather ‘strong dog’, I also get quite a few ‘seated rows’ in as I walk him on two leads and often have to pull him back from the human/bird/dog/twig he is about to launch at.
Charlie - with the infamous 'walk me' face. A fan favourite. The Joy of Spirit Animals and Why You Should Follow the Signs...Spider Woman - Susan Seddon-BouletI am being hunted down by spiders. It has been happening for ten days. The thought of being hunted down by spiders may bring shivers to many of you reading this. Luckily, I am neither arachnophobic nor living in Australia (where it is just safest to assume everything with 8 legs is trying to kill you), so I find spiders quite friendly. However, over the last ten days they have become a little too friendly… It all started when I followed the instructions of my beautiful Soul Stories Calendar. I had noticed that May 16th suggested I ‘catch a spider and release it’ a few weeks beforehand, and it stuck in my mind that somehow on this day, I would have to find a spider in the house, and then rehome it gently outside. On Wednesday 16th, I went to work and I waited to find a spider to capture. They eluded me all day; I didn’t find one on my walk, in the bathroom, in the garden, in my car, nowhere. Until at 1:15am on my way down the hallway to bed, I was stopped in my tracks but a small dark shadow on the floor. Delighted, I captured my spider and as per the instructions set her free out the window. (If I’m honest, she escaped out of the container as I was transferring her to the window and so she may have ‘flown’ out along with the calendar she was sitting on, with a little less grace than you were thinking.) I checked and she had landed safely and happily on the windowsill. Task completed! Or so I thought… On Thursday night, at precisely 1:15am the same spider and I met again in the hallway. Had anyone been awake they would have heard me saying ‘Again? We had this discussion last night, I thought you liked the window sill?’ On Friday, I stepped out of the shower and picked up my dressing gown and a spider jumped out and ran away (he obviously likes hot pink fleecy gowns as well…) On Saturday, I noticed the dashboard of my car had been decorated in spider webs overnight. On Monday, I picked my towel up off the rack, and started drying myself, as I turned the towel around, a spider fell to the floor and sprinted for the door.
these spiders are presenting themselves as spirit animals and there is a message here I need to pay attention to.
I have a few spirit animals on a day to day basis, for example Magpies in both England and Australia. They follow me, they appear in threes, and stand there and watch me walk past merely centimetres away, they never swoop me and they are never startled by me (or the hairy and often boisterous four legged Golden Retriever I’m walking at the time). Butterflies are much the same, they fly along with me when I’m walking in either country, not just for a few metres, but for 200 or 300m floating about my person as I march along the street, field, track, they flitter around trees and bushes as we walk along, crossing the path in front of me and dancing in the breeze. How do I know they are my spirit animals? They turn up constantly, regardless of the season and the country! Curiously (& thankfully!), spiders do not hunt me down in Australia – but for the second year running in England they are following me closely upon my arrival. Spirit Animals come into our lives to bring a message, to demonstrate or indicate a strength we perhaps are not acknowledging or to bring awareness to a lesson or area of growth we need to take notice of. At different times during our lives, there may be a chance to take a different direction, or a time to make that choice, it is at these times that Spirit Animals can turn up to guide you or to signal that indeed it is time for change. They can turn up in the flesh or in your dream world, and if not acknowledged will continue to make their presence known until you pay attention. We are supported on this journey called life, in ways we are often too busy to notice. Our Spirit Animals are another small reminder that the universe has our back, it has the answers to so many of the things we spend hours worrying about or fussing over, it has the guidance we so often need when we are feeling lost, and the love we crave and seek in all of the places that continue to leave us feeling empty - if only we are willing to stop and take notice of their guidance. Your life and your time on the planet can be enriched, and it requires no financial investment, no new educational courses, no major sea changes, no image overhauls and no gym contracts you are not going to complete. On the contrary, it does require you spend a few minutes every day being present, conscious and aware of your world. Pay a little more attention to what surrounds you every day, and you are well on your way. In case you were wondering, Spiders as Spirit Animals are the ‘Life Spirit and Weavers of Destiny’; they represent the divine feminine and her creative energy, channelling patience, receptivity and the creation of new ideas. It is no coincidence then, they’ve hunted me down until I wrote this piece… For more information on Spirit Animals: http://foreverconscious.com/how-to-discover-your-spirit-animal http://foreverconscious.com/common-animal-messengers-meaning https://www.gaia.com/article/spirit-animal-meanings-fox-owl-wolf-bear-and-hawk Spiders as Spirit Animals: https://goodwitcheshomestead.com/2017/08/08/spirit-of-spider-animal-totems/ Over the years, I have sent so many of my beautiful clients off with little pieces of paper covered in wisdom, home reinforcements and suggestions of books to read, things to watch and crystals to buy to support their wellness. More specifically, I have misplaced the collection of keys that include my car keys, work keys and gym tag and I haven’t been able to find them for 11 days. On a practical level, I’ve had to use my imagination and use my spare car keys to drive, relied on the gracious folk I work with to let me in and out of the practice and borrowed my sister’s gym tag to get into the gym we both attend. I have also cleaned out my car, my room, my drawers, done three loads of washing, changed my sheets, dropped off old clothes to be donated, cleaned out my box of bags, tidied my desk, cleaned out and tidied the cupboard and bags we use for the shopping, cleaned out my car again, hunted through our garden at least seven times, emailed the restaurant I was at the last time I saw them, and checked under the couch cushions. At least nine times. On all three couches. If I count up the amount of hours I’ve spent creating opportunities for them to turn up… it would total around seven hours of the last week. Seven hours… it’s almost your standard work day. It’s at least three Harry Potter films, or a decent night’s sleep. And yet, theoretically, all I have to show for it is nice clean sheets and too many shopping bags this morning when I went to buy fruit and vegetables. I am philosophical about misplacing these keys of mine. I pondered as to why I couldn’t find them, was I working too much? Going to gym too often? Driving too much? After considering these questions and deciding that I had instead felt rather balanced and prosperous lately, I came to the understanding that they have made themselves scarce for a reason that is not yet apparent to me. Because if I haven’t found them yet, they must be hiding in a REALLY REALLY sneaky place for a really really good reason! Yesterday, I had the most gorgeous Kinesiology balance on my throat and third eye chakras with the beautiful Liz & Ilana. The throat chakra is predominantly about communicating your truth, and the third eye is about sight, both internal and external, clear vision and intuition. My misplaced keys came up during this balance, amongst other things I am not willing to see at present, and after gaining an awareness of blockages and resolutions, we concluded the balance with an affirmation; ‘I now see the things I am looking for’. Aha! You may be thinking… I bet she found her keys today! Alas, not quite. This afternoon as I walked out of my bedroom, my black backpack fell out of the (newly cleaned and stacked) bag box on to the floor. I had brought the bag in from the car when I cleaned that, and placed it on top of the box on the weekend, and this was the third time it fell off. After stepping over it three times, I picked it up from the bottom to place it back and heard a ‘THUD!’ on the floor. When I looked down to see what had fallen on the floor I let out a large ‘OMG!’ Sitting on the floor was the Green Aircraft Cabin Harmoniser* that had gone ‘missing’ upon my return from New Zealand. Last year. On November 29th. In 2015. That was seven and a half months ago. At the time, I had wondered where it had gone. I searched the backpack, the suitcase, asked my friend in New Zealand to search her room and found nothing. Eventually, slightly disheartened, I reconciled myself to the fact that it was no longer with me and hopefully someone who needed it more had found it. I flew home without it, and have flown around Australia on several short flights without it since, but never on flights of more than three hours. I have used the backpack several times since, it has been moved around the house, the bag box, my room, into my car, out of my car and yet it never appeared. Until today. When it just fell out of wherever it had been hiding and onto my floor! The synchronicity of the situation does not escape my attention. I am off to Darwin to work next week, on a flight for four hours and was thinking I’d need to buy a new Harmoniser. I was also wondering where my luggage lock went to, it fell out of the bag almost immediately after the Harmoniser. And then there was my balance yesterday and my affirmation… I now see the things I am looking for. Yes, yes I do! The message I’m hearing clearly today… you will find exactly what you are looking for, just as soon as you are ready to see it <3 xo (PS. I trust this means my misplaced keys will appear before 2017!) *What is an Aircraft Cabin Harmoniser you ask? More information here… http://www.orgoneffectsaustralia.com/product/aircraft-cabin-harmonizers/ Some call it serendipity, some call it coincidence, some call it fate – when a series of events occur that seem to be engineered by a higher power to all fall into place, as if we’ve almost wished them into place. As a child, I adored the Dr Seuss book – Wacky Wednesday. On the Wednesday in question, the young protagonist gets up and finds a shoe on the wall… and his day gets progressively wackier from there. As he traipses around town, he notices synchronicities (& shoes!) in the oddest places and wonders what they all mean, before eventually and rather gladly jumping into bed, exhausted from his day of unusual happenings. Have you ever had a day like Wacky Wednesday? While on holiday to Byron Bay, I had my very own Wacky Wednesday. It started with a little touch of magic – Harry Potter magic if you will. I had decided to start rereading the series, however I only brought the first book with me and found with ample opportunity to read while on holidays, I had almost finished it. So I set my intention that I was going to find Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets at the Mullumbimby Markets on Saturday morning. We walked in, we walked around, we walked up to the only bookstore there and right on the corner of the table was Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets for $5.00. I smiled and thought to myself ‘what luck!’ We then visited the Crystal Castle and Shambhala Gardens in Mullumbimby. A few weeks prior a good friend had also made the trip to Byron and suggested that it was in my highest interest to go for a visit – as we all know, I love crystals! We entered and a feeling of peace and serenity came across us as we walked the Rose Quartz lined paths and found our way to a Rose Quartz circle. After grounding for fifteen minutes whilst laying on the ground with my feet on a rather large Rose Quartz, I moved up to sit on its friend next door. As I was sitting on the Rose Quartz, the Labradorite bracelet on my left arm snapped off and broke, falling into the grass in front of my Rose Quartz seat. We both looked at the ground, rather startled before I burst out laughing and said ‘Well, obviously I no longer need its protection!’ I wear a Labradorite bracelet and an Amethyst bracelet on each arm, to increase intuition and openness and protect myself from and dissolve negative energies. As I sat on the Rose Quartz, the stone of unconditional love, and allowed its beautiful energy to course through me, it broke down and through any barriers to self-love and shed them into a circle of love (& Rose Quartzes!) Shortly afterwards, we moved up to the café area and sat on the beautiful verandah admiring the view. As we sat there chatting away, I heard a rustling behind me and as I looked down a metre long green snake was slithering behind us. He was about 50cm away so we just sat and watched him as he went about his business and wandered off. When we mentioned that we’d seen him to a staff member later, they were surprised that there was a snake out so late in the season. Snakes are a sign of Kundalini rising. In Hindu mythology, Kundalini is a serpent goddess who lies asleep at the base of the spine, coiled three and a half times around the first chakra. She represents the unfolding of the divine Shakti energy, the energising potential of life itself, a living goddess who enlivens all things. Kundalini rising is a shedding of the old, and embracing and stepping forward into the new with creativity and alignment. Our little snake friend wandered on by us, choosing to be seen and choosing to be heard so we saw the sign, but also choosing to continue on with his business knowing that the sight of him was knowledge enough about what was happening! As we wandered around the beautiful grounds after lunch, we came across a stunning Fuchsite, weighing around 275kg, from Brazil. As I read the description next to the Fuchsite, I mentioned that whilst I have a rather extensive crystal collection in my practice, I didn’t have a Fuchsite and would love to get one. After having a hug and getting a photo with the Fuchsite, we went to walk on when my friend looked down at the gravel stones and said ‘Oh look!’ as she picked up a small piece of Fuchsite and handed it to me. I then stated that I wanted her to have a piece too, at which point we looked around and spotted a piece for her. Finally, as we went to leave, I suggested that it had been an interesting day and I would like to get an Aura Photo done. I’ve never had one of them done before but recently my interest had been piqued. I thought after a grounding day in such a beautiful space my aura might be feeling fulfilled and healed, so I was hopeful of some interesting colours and perhaps even an orb or two! As I sat down, I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, ten seconds later my photo was complete. Before she opened my photo to allow it to develop, the photographer asked if I did a lot of meditation. I had a good old giggle and explained that whilst I have done some meditation, I am much more of an ‘active meditator’ – I allow myself to zone out while I’m walking, swimming, running and riding. She looked puzzled before I then mentioned that I worked as a Kinesiologist and that yes, I worked each week. She smiled and replied ‘ah, a lot of the things I just saw make more sense now’. Curious to find out more, she uncovered my photo and we had a look. Unusually, I have an incredibly rare open and strong heart chakra (love can be stronger protection than a labradorite bracelet) and lots of blue indicating a shift forward and a rise in creativity (which is what my little snake friend was showing us). The large amount of green and my two orbs showed that I was very close to moving into alignment (a place from which you can manifest all sorts of things, like Harry Potter books and Fuchsite’s!) Most interestingly, my aura is extremely bright (somewhat like my wardrobe) and strong, I radiate energy, love and positivity. I left with the aura photo safely tucked away in my bag, happy and beaming in the knowledge that all of the energy I put towards living a life of love radiates out of my person, and that with this love I am able to move forward through life’s challenges and be a beacon of light and love.
If I ever need reminding of any of that, all I have to do is allow myself to tune into the ‘synchronicities’ of the universe, whenever I am willing to be open and look for them, they will be there gently reminding me that I am connected to source and on course <3 As a wellness practitioner, who runs a wellness practice, I often get asked three main questions...
‘What do you do?’ ‘What are you all about?’ ‘Why do you do it?’ Interestingly enough, all three questions can be answered with my business vision – Love. Balance. Wellness. But as humans are curious beings, here is a greater explanation of what that means... Kinesiology is about Balance. Balance isn’t about ‘having it all’. It’s about having what truly matters to us. Our lives are a journey. Sometimes we love the journey, sometimes we don’t love it as much and sometimes we just feel like we are being carried along without a sense of purpose and feel confused, lost and out of sync. The world we live in and the lives we choose to live can provide us with many challenges to our sense of balance and our sense of self; how often do we hear someone say ‘I chose to do all of these things that make me ‘successful’, but why don’t I feel happy? Why am I unwell? Why am I stressed and chronically ill?’ This is usually followed by a lot of confusion, a bit more stress and a general sense of unhappiness. And a feeling of stuckness. Because we’re not quite sure what truly matters to us. And sometimes we choose to stay in this stuckness for quite a while, because as much as we’d like to, we are not yet ready for change. My journey to experiencing kinesiology was not unlike many of my practice members. For a good two years, I didn’t think I needed it. I wasn’t interested. I wasn’t ready. Eventually (bed ridden for hours at a time and having a complete physical breakdown with often medically inexplicable symptoms) I listened to my body and finally took myself off to a Kinesiologist, who after six weeks had assisted me in completely changing and realigning my health and my life. But I still wasn’t ready to study Kinesiology. That took another eight months. Like many of the clients in my practice, I wasn’t prepared for the change and the new opportunity, until it was right in front of me. My Kinesiology sessions helped me clear the energetic and emotional blockages that were obscuring this, but it took time and it didn’t happen until I was truly ready. When the opportunities did arise, I was prepared and I was confident, and I stepped straight into expressing my true potential. So when potential clients, friends or acquaintances tell me they’re interested in Kinesiology, but they’re just not ready yet, I understand. Kinesiology is about Wellness. Wellness is about living a balanced life full of love and happiness, where all aspects of our being – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual are in alignment. So... what do I do? I work as a Kinesiology Practitioner. I work with practice members to assist them in changing their health, their wellness and their lives to bring them into alignment. In a way that is best for them, when they are ready. It is your health journey, and your life and it will unfold as you let it. Kinesiology is there to help facilitate your journey if and when you need it. What am I all about? Everyone deserves to be well, happy, healthy and loved. And it is their choice to be so. Our world is full of wonderful, nutritious and nourishing foods, practices, places and people from whom we can all benefit and I am interested in opening up these avenues of information so that everyone has access to these opportunities. There are many highly skilled, highly educated and dedicated health and wellness practitioners working in our community in a variety of fields. They have skills and knowledge that can assist all of us, and part of every person’s wellness journey is to learn from and receive benefit from these people. The right information and the right people will come into your life when they are meant to; it is up to you to be open to what they have to give you. All modalities are part of our journey to wellness; there is no one single right way to do this, there is simply the way you decide to do this. Why do I do it? Because everyone deserves to have optimal health and wellness, to love and express their true potential, every day and in every part of their life. I truly believe this. Kinesiology is about Love. My philosophy as a wellness practitioner and the philosophy of my practice is simple: Every person deserves to be truly happy, to be well and to love and be loved. Live a life filled with Love: Love your life. Love your work. Love your purpose. Love yourself. This will give you cancer etc. It is your life, and your body.
